KraftHaus navigating COVID-19, and information for other small businesses.

3 minute read

Woman holding sterile face mask by her sideIt's definitely a scary time. For the world, our families, and our small businesses. Some people may be hesitant about purchasing items manufactured in China, and even items packed and shipped here in the US. I wanted to take a minute to let you know that we are taking this situation very seriously. The health and well-being of not only our family, but also of our customers and their families are of the utmost importance. As a small, family-owned business, we rely on your support and wanted to arm you with some information you can pass on to your own customers to help them be more comfortable purchasing our items online.

At this time, KraftHaus inventory is stored and fulfilled in our home. My children and I are not venturing out of our home and backyard unless it is absolutely necessary. My husband is a physical therapist, thus needs to continue providing care to his patients that need it. Rest assured he is utilizing proper sterilization techniques and being careful not to bring anything contagious home with him to put his family at risk.

Before fulfilling orders, our hands are washed and tables are wiped down. Most inventory was ordered and received in 2019, so it has been sitting for a while. This study completed last week, shows that the Corona virus can survive on hard surfaces such as plastic and stainless steel for up to 72 hours and on cardboard for up to 24 hours. On copper for 4 hours and 16 hours on polypropylene. I think it's safe to say that by the time you receive your product, there is likely nothing that has survived.

According to the World Health Organization website, "...the risk of catching the virus that causes COVID-19 from a package that has been moved, traveled, and exposed to different conditions and temperature is low."

Spray some Lysol or other disinfectant on your packages when they arrive, if you're concerned about your postal worker handling your items. Remember to spray enough that the surface remains wet and allow to air dry.

I hope this has given you some peace of mind about purchasing items from KraftHaus during this time. After all, if you have to stay home, you may as well use your time to make something beautiful and luxurious, right?! To my small business customers, hang in there. Remember that I offer Sezzle financing with zero interest if you don't have the revenue coming in and need to space out your payments. Please let me know if there are other ways I can help.

Wishing you and your families good health and calm thoughts.

All my best, Nic
